The fifth-generation Avalon might have been introduced in 2018, but Toyota has confirmed that 2022 will mark the end of its production. Today, the automaker announced pricing for the 2022 MY alongside a few changes in the lineup.

The 2022 Toyota Avalon starts from $36,375 (excluding the $1,025 fee), making it $250 more expensive than last year’s model.

The full-size sedan is not available in AWD variants anymore, while the sporty TRD trim was also dropped from the range. The good news for prospective buyers is the addition of new safety features as standard, including the upgraded Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ package (dynamic radar cruise control, lane tracing assist, blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, etc), and the addition of a rear-seat reminder system.

The 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid is being recalled due to an issue with the odometer.

The automaker has revealed that some Wrangler 4xe models are equipped with digital instrument cluster software that may prevent the odometer from displaying after it hits 13,342 miles or 21,437 km.

The issue took place between September 8, 2020 and September 13, 2021, when vehicles on the production line received a suspect software service update. Jeep fixed the issue with a new gauge cluster software version that was implemented into vehicle production but a total of 2,903 Wranglers are now involved in the recall and all of them are thought to have the issue.

A recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) states that if the odometer value is not displayed, owners may miss critical vehicle maintenance periods, increasing the likelihood of components failing due to a lack of maintenance, heightening the risk of a crash.

To fix the issue, the automaker will update the software on vehicles with less than 13,342 miles (21,473 km) on the clock while those vehicles that have already passed this figure will be fitted with new gauge clusters. It has also been confirmed that any owner that has had the gauge cluster replaced due to the issue will be reimbursed.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles U.S. will begin notifying owners on or around January 28, 2022.

Nearly 18 months after it broke cover at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, Lamborghini has finally allowed a select few behind the wheel of the Sian FKP 37.

Top Gear’s co-presenter Chris Harris was among the lucky first who got to experience it, as he pushed it to its limits on the show’s test track at the Dunsfold Aerodrome, part of series 30, episode 1 that aired over the weekend.

Read More: This Is Lamborghini’s New Hybrid Sian Roadster, And It’s Already Sold-Out

So, what did he make of the Raging Bull’s first hybrid supercar, which also happens to be its most powerful street-legal product yet? That it’s lively, ‘sodding’ fast and he loves it. It’s also a very different animal than the Aventador, with which it shares the same platform and glorious Italian 6.5-liter V12.

That’s because it adds a 48-volt system incorporated into the gearbox for boosted performance and instant response, and a supercapacitor instead of a classic lithium-ion battery pack, mounted between the cockpit and engine so that it does not affect the weight distribution. The internal combustion unit was upgraded, and together with the hybrid system, it pumps out a total output of 807 HP (819 PS / 602 kW).

Lamborghini’s technical sheet reveals the ability to hit the 62 mph (100 km/h) mark in less than 2.8 seconds, and a top speed that exceeds 217 mph (350 km/h). And the set-up also allows the Sian to move under electric power during parking and reversing.

Production of the Sian will be limited to 63 coupes and 19 roadsters, though it’s unknown how many are destined for the U.S. market.

Honda has confirmed that it will reveal an all-new HR-V on February 18, which will feature the company’s two-motor hybrid powertrain for the first time in the model’s history.

The new generation of the small Japanese SUV will adopt the HR-V e:HEV nameplate, as part of Honda’s strategy to electrify all of its mainstream models in Europe by 2022.

The new HR-V e:HEV will join the CR-V and Jazz, which are already available with the company’s latest hybrid technology in the Old Continent.

The new generation HR-V is expected to adopt a more dynamic exterior design, following in the footsteps of the upcoming new Civic. Camouflaged test cars have been spotted trying to hide the model’s bigger dimensions and a more crossover coupe-like appearance.

Details on the hybrid powertrain of the new HR-V have not yet been released; in the case of the bigger CR-V, the company’s two-motor hybrid setup produces a combined 184 HP by pairing two electric motors to a 2.0-liter i-VTEC petrol engine and an innovative single fixed-gear transmission, instead of the CVT usually found on other self-charging hybrid models.

According to Honda, the single-gear transmission of the CR-V and Jazz e:HEV offers higher levels of refinement compared to CVTs, together with better fuel efficiency. Previous reports suggested that the new HR-V could use a 1.5-liter petrol engine in its hybrid system, just like the Jazz.

Earlier this month, Honda stopped selling the second-generation HR-V in major European markets like the UK, as the model didn’t meet Europe’s new emission regulations for 2021. Production ended at the end of December, with new examples still available in dealer stocks.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Renault Clio. The French supermini is one of the most successful cars ever sold in Europe, with over 15 million units made since the original model came out in 1990.

Renault Clio I

Designed as a replacement for the successful Renault 5, the first-gen Clio was unveiled at the 1990 Paris Motor Show.

In 1991, it won the European Car of the Year title, with jurors recognizing it as the best new vehicle that was launched in the Old Continent thanks to its “remarkable styling, strong quality levels, generous cabin space and unprecedented equipment for a model of this size”.

The RT 1.4-liter five-door variant was equipped with remote central locking, electric front windows and a stereo radio/cassette player. Other versions included the RL 1.2-liter three-door, 1.9-liter diesel, 1.8-liter, 16-valve RSi hot hatch and the 2.0-liter, 148 HP (150 PS) Clio Williams.

Renault Clio II

Production of the Clio I ended in 1998, when Renault introduced the Clio II. Featuring a new design and larger footprint, which resulted in a more spacious cabin, it had larger seats and a suspension tuned for comfort.

The weight was kept in check with then advanced engineering solutions, as some variants featured an aluminum bonnet, composite front fenders and polycarbonate headlight covers.

The Clio was the first subcompact model offered with front side airbags and ABS, and it was also available with seatbelt pretensioners and power steering.

The engine lineup comprised of 1.2-, 1.4- and 1.6-liter gasoline units and a 1.9-liter diesel, as well as the sporty, 170 HP (172 PS) Clio RS. A 1.6-liter 16-valve petrol mill was introduced in 2000, and the rest of the range was eventually upgraded to 16V lumps that provided increased performance and better fuel economy.

In 2000, the second-gen Clio was updated with a revised instrument cluster and standard passenger airbag. In 2001 Renault added even more gear, such as the new bumpers, optional xenon headlights, digital climate control and satellite navigation system, as well as a new 1.5-liter turbodiesel. In the same year, the mid-engined, rear-wheel drive Clio V6 Renault Sport was launched with a Laguna-sourced, 226 HP (230 PS) 3.0-liter V6 engine placed behind the front seats.

More styling tweaks were performed inside and out by 2004, and the Clio RS was turned into the 182, with 179 HP (182 PS) and two chassis options, standard and Cup.

Renault Clio III

In 2005, the Clio II was replaced by the Clio III. The latest iteration came with sharper styling, better interior quality, improved cabin space and more equipment. For the first time it was available with a hands-free keycard and push-button start, alongside an advanced GPS system, active cruise control with speed limiter and others.

The third-gen Clio was the first supermini to score a five-star Euro NCAP rating thanks to its advanced active and passive safety.

An estate version, called the Sport Tourer, was also introduced for this iteration, with a longer wheelbase compared to the regular hatchback, and a new Renault Sport variant was launched with 197 HP (200 PS).

The Clio III was named the European Car of the Year in 2006.

Renault Clio IV

Inspired by the DeZir concept and penned by Laurens van den Acker, the Clio IV was presented in 2012 with a significantly longer wheelbase, new design and technology features such as the R-Link touchscreen infotainment system and full LED front lighting.

The engine lineup included the usual TCe petrol and dCi diesel engines, and the Clio RS came with a 197 HP (200 PS) turbocharged 1.6-liter engine and a six-speed dual-clutch transmission for the first time.

Renault Clio V

The current Clio was unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show and entered production last year. It too was awarded a five-star rating by the Euro NCAP car and is offered with modern petrol and diesel engines and the new E-Tech self-charging hybrid powertrain.

Renault’s latest supermini can be had with a 9.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 10-inch TFT driver information display and boasts improved interior comfort and space and the biggest boot in its class, at 391 liters (13.8 cu-ft).

With almost 29,000 units shipped last year in Europe, according to CarSalesBase, the Dacia Lodgy hasn’t been that popular, which is why the Romanian automaker has reportedly decided to pull the plug on it.

Discontinuing the minivan won’t leave a gap in the company’s lineup, though, as they are allegedly to replace it with a seven-seater SUV.

According to Largus’ sources, the RJI (internal codename) will be based on the CMF-B platform that’s shared with the new-gen Logan and Sandero, as well as the latest Renault Clio, Captur and Nissan Juke. In order to accommodate the two extra seats, it will reportedly have a longer wheelbase as well as a longer rear overhang.

Power is expected to be supplied by the regular 1.0-liter TCe petrol engine, with 100 and 120 HP, and the 1.3-liter TCe, rated at 140 and 160 HP, with the latter possibly featuring a 12V mild-hybrid system. An LPG version of the smaller unit is understood to launch too, alongside the 1.6-liter E-Tech self-charging hybrid powertrain from the Clio, where it puts out 140 HP.

Safety gear such as the automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning and hill-start assist, alongside an electric parking brake, should be available.

While the Lodgy is assembled in Morocco for the European market, the new yet-to-be-named SUV, which will slot above the popular Duster, is said to be put together at Dacia’s plant in Pitesti, Romania. This should give the brand extra points with the unions, which are currently angry with Renault for making Europe’s cheapest EV, the Dacia Spring, in China.

The model will supposedly premiere at the end of next summer and enter production in October, while deliveries should begin in late 2021 or early 2022.

Jeep is launching the new 4Xe plug-in hybrid versions of the Compass and Renegade models in Europe, releasing all the details of its first electrified models in the region.

Both the Compass and the Renegade 4Xe models will arrive in showrooms across Europe this September, offered in three trim levels (Limited, S, and Trailhawk), two power levels (187 HP or 237 HP), and new exclusive e-driving functions. Jeep’s new electrified powertrain combines FCA’s turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine and six-speed automatic transmission with two electric motors and an 11.4 kWh battery pack.

One of the electric motors is coupled to the engine and can act as a generator while the other one is mounted on the rear axle, delivering 60 HP and 184 lb-ft of torque, making both models all-wheel-driven.

The different power levels come purely from the engine’s setup, with the 1.3-liter four-cylinder producing 128 HP (130 PS) in the 187 HP (190 PS) models and 177 HP (180 PS) in the range-topping 237 HP (240 PS) versions. Jeep expects both models to emit less than 50 g/km of CO2 emissions and to offer an average EV range of 31 miles (50 km) on the NEDC2 cycle. The top speed in their pure EV mode is limited to 81 mph (130 km/h).

The new Compass and Renegade 4Xe models feature three operating modes for their electrified powertrains: Hybrid, Electric, and E-Save. The latter is used either to maintain battery charge or to charge the battery up to 80 percent through the operation of the petrol engine.

Jeep also claims that despite all the electrification that’s been going on, the new 4Xe models will offer “the best performance and driving dynamics of any Jeep Renegade and Compass ever”, whether that’s EV driving in the city or an off-road adventure.

The company says that the increased torque generated by the electric system and their ability to adjust it “with extreme precision” ensures even greater off-road capability for the new Jeep Compass and Renegade 4Xe models, in addition to being the most fuel-efficient Jeeps ever.

All the high-voltage electrical components are fully sealed and waterproof, with the Trailhawk versions of the new Compass and Renegade 4Xe also fitted with steel skid plates for added off-road protection. Drivers can also pick 4WD Lock for speeds up to 9 mph (15 km/h) and 4WD Low for better response on sandy or rocky terrains.

Jeep’s first electrified models in Europe can be fully charged at home in less than 5 hours with the available base easyWallbox, which can be upgraded to 7.4 kW to provide a full charge in 100 minutes.
